My total was 165 sheds, 4 dead heads, and a bull horn sheath. Of the 165, there were 12 sets, 40 fresh, 84 lefts and 81 rights. Don’t count me out yet though, I still have a little looking to do on Memorial Weekend and maybe a few after deer season.

A subject over on the Michigan Sportsman Forums posted a photo in reference to a pair of sheds that were found while excavating.

I work for an excavating company and late last summer we were undercutting peat for a new road in Novi. About 16′ down the excavator brought up a bucket of peat and the operator saw what he thought was a stick. He looked closer and noticed it was an antler. Pretty cool find. But what is even more amazing, is that he found the match about 20 minutes later! Based on the depth, I would think these things are pretty darn old. Here’s a picture:
